To All the Books I’ve Loved Before

haha I’m just nerdy enough to say “books” in that title instead of “men.” Julio would only understand if he’s an avid reader himself.

I’ve pushed my son into reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese enough that I’ve talked myself into rereading it. I believe I might have mentioned it’s my favorite contemporary novel so far.
I had the privilege of emailing Verghese a while back and hearing from him! I told him how beautiful his prose is, and how I looked forward to reading his other two books.
Since then I’ve read all of his books. He seems like such a nice guy. He told me in one of his memoirs there’s a character who used to live here in Hobbs, but was so many years ago I wouldn’t know him.
I don’t think I’ve ever cried or really laughed aloud while reading a book, not that I can remember anyway. But this one had me doing both.
I highly recommend it to everyone.
